Dear friends,
On behalf of the XX Jornada de Virologia / Virology Meeting 2021 (Societat Catalana de Biologia, SCB) Organizing Committee, it is a great pleasure to announce our annual meeting. Due to the importance of the current COVID19 pandemic, the Virology Meeting 2021 (SCB) will also be co-organized with the 3rd Research Symposium on Coronavirus as we did last year. The previous Research Symposiums on Coronavirus organized by SCB were successful with more than 300 participants. The joined events will allow to share the advances in SARS-CoV-2 and other relevant viruses research, gathering scientists from different centers and disciplines.
The Virology Meeting 2021 (SCB) will be held at the Institut d’Estudis Catalans (IEC, Carrer del Carme, 47, 08001, Barcelona) on Friday, November 5th, 2021, with the possibility of on-line participation. This meeting will start with an opening lecture by Dr. Urtzi Garaigorta, expert in antiviral research, entitled “An Antiviral Screening Platform to fight viral infections”. The meeting will also count with other excellent invited speakers such as Dr. Maria Paz Sánchez-Seco, who will update us on the emerging arboviruses in Spain. In the frame of the 3rd Research Symposium on Coronavirus we will relish with a roundtable discussion on vaccines against SARS-CoV-2, where experts in developing different vaccine platforms will participate such as, Dr. Isabel Sola, Dr. Toni Prenafeta, Dr. Montse Plana and Dr. Jorge Carrillo. And last, but not least, we will have the pleasure to listen to Dr. Akiko Iwasaki, who will shed light on immune responses to SARS-CoV-2.
We encourage you all to participate in this exceptional meeting, which we are sure that you will really enjoy.
Sincerely yours,
Núria Busquets Martí
Chair of Virology Meeting 2021 (SCB) and 3rd Research Symposium on Coronavirus.
